Olympic Peninsula 2010

Yes I'm back from a wonderful trip to the Olympic Peninsula. I know I went there last year but I had such a great time and still wanted to explore more of that area a repeat trip was needed. Well this year it rained a LOT! I still did not see any Elk but I did manage to capture some new and exciting images that I will share now.

The image that I am most excited about is what I will start this series with. It is a male Sooty Grouse Dendragaphus fuliginosus. There were two of them, in full display, trying to coax a female out of a ravine for some fun and games.

Epiphyllum

Here is our Epiphyllum which just bloomed. This will be my last picture for awhile as I'm off on another grand adventure.

Bird Images 2010

I will end this series of Birds with this image of a Cedar Waxwing. It is a sleek, soft-plumaged bird. I have always thought they looked like bandits with its black mask bordered narrowly by white.

This Yellow-rumped Warbler had a nest nearby but I couldn't find it.

Bird Images 2010

At 12" the Northern Flicker is a rather large woodpecker. This one is peeking over his shoulder at me.
